I’m Kyle Barron, 2-time Spirit of Sandra Scholar with the Sandra Schmirler Foundation! For those of you who are unsure what the Foundation does, we raise money for Neonatal Intensive Care Units from coast to coast of Canada! Each year, they award 6 scholarships to Junior Curlers across Canada as well. For the past two years, I have been fortunate to receive this scholarship and have been the only recipient east of Ontario both years!
When selected as a scholar, one of our jobs is to host a fundraiser in support of this amazing Foundation. Last year, I hosted the Crowd Sweep at the Brier, raising over $15,000 for the Foundation and Curling Canada.
This year, I’m hosting an Open Bonspiel (4 players- it can be mixed, mens, womens, Juniors- max 16 teams) during March 17th-18th! During this spiel, I’ll be hosting a silent auction as well as a 50/50 in support of the Foundation! All proceeds from the Fundraiser will go straight in helping babies who are born too sick or too small, grow up to be a Champion like Sandra was!
The registration fee for this event is $100 per team. Any donations would be more than helpful!
During Saturday morning curling on March 17th, I will also be helping the club host a pancake breakfast. Any donations during this breakfast will also go straight to the foundation!
If you wish to contact me or register for the FunSpiel,
my email is firstname.lastname@example.org, or call/text me at 709-649-2780!
Thanks everyone, I hope to see you all there!
