Super League Draw #1 Recap

DEFENDING CHAMPION GOES DOWN TO DEFEAT

FATHER vs. SON (BACK-END) GAME GOES AN EXTRA END

EXPERIENCE ALSO PREVAILS IN FATHER vs. SON (FRONT-END) GAME

STRONG DEFEATS CURTIS (AFTER TWO LOSSES TO HER IN 2016 PROVINCIAL WOMEN’S)

The following six matchups this week kicked off the new SuperLeague Season at the RE/MAX Centre:

ICE #1: Jeff Thomas led his Team to a 5-4 extra end victory over the Team skipped by his Son, Colin. Singles were scored in all 9 ends, but six of the singles were stolen. Colin Thomas was heavy on an attempted draw to the button with hammer in the final end.

ICE #2: The Paul Harvey foursome scored a decisive 11-1 victory over the Trent Skanes skipped defending SuperLeague Champions. Harvey executed a slash for 5 in the first end setting the scene for an early finish.

ICE #3: The Heather Strong Women’s Team outlasted the Stacie Curtis Women’s Team 4-3 with the decisive points coming on a 3-count in the 7th end. Curtis needed a pair in the 8th end to send the match to an extra end, but her draw for two was just a centimetre short of the rings.

ICE #4: The young Greg Blyde Team scored a 5-3 win over the Women’s Team skipped by Shelley Hardy.

ICE #5: Third, Mark Healy, in the absence of skip Andrew Symonds (3rd place finishers last season) defeated the young Andrew Taylor Team 7-3.

ICE #6: The veteran Mark Noseworthy foursome (with Ross Young at lead) defeated the young Adam Boland Team (skipped by third Stephen Trickett and with Ross’s Son, Zach, at second) 7-2 on the strength of a 4-count in the first end.

Three teams tied for first (sounds like last Season).
